This DVD is part 12 of a special 18-DVD series by Great Britain Online recording the coastline of the entire British Isles at the start of the 21st century.
Our journey starts at Dublin traveling northwards via Skerries and Balbriggan to Dundalk Bay. With the Mourne Mountains forming an impressive backdrop to Carlingford Lough, we pass through Rostrevor and Greencastle before turning north again to Newcastle and Dundrum Bay. At Strangford we take the ferry to Portaferry and journey on past Mew Island to the City of Belfast.
Taking in occasional views of Scotland we then tour the coast of Antrim, turning westwards to the amazing Giant's Causeway. The shores of Lough Foyle then guide us to Malin Head, the most northerly point in Ireland. Continuing westwards we pass by Ards Forest Park before turning south to Dungloe and Ardara.
The highest cliffs in Europe are encountered at Slieve League before we round Donegal Bay to Sligo. After views of Mayo including Ballycastle and Fallmore we arrive at the enchanting Achill Island. The final leg of our coastal tour takes in Rosturk and the Aasleagh Falls before passing Cleggan and on to Galway Bay.
The DVD generally encompasses most of the coastline of the route set out, with occasional stops to highlight places of interest, or to take in some exceptional views.
