This DVD is part 17 of a special 18-DVD series by Great Britain Online recording the coastline of the entire British Isles at the start of the 21st century.
The coastline of Somerset, North Devon, North Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly provides some of the best views in all England.
Our journey starts with sunset by the two River Severn bridges and ends with sunset over Lands End.
Some of the notable places visited are:
- Clevedon with its elegant pier;
- Weston Super Mare, Kewstoke and Uphill;
- Burnham on Sea, Watchet and Minehead;
- Porlock and historic Lynton and Lynmouth;
- Coombe Martin, Ilfracombe and Lundy;
- Woolacombe, Appledore and Westward Ho;
- Picturesque Clovelly and Hartland Point;
- Bude and Boscastle;
- Tintagel with its castle and old post office;
- Padstow, Newquay, St Ives and Lands End; and
- St Marys, Tresco, St Martins, Bryer, and St Agnes.
Amongst the lovely places encountered is Dunster near Minehead. The picturesque village has many well preserved ancient buildings of great charm.
Footage from the air is included together with shots of remote lighthouses taken en route to the Isles of Scilly.
The DVD generally encompasses the entire coastline of the route set out, with occasional stops to highlight places of interest, or to take in some exceptional views.
