This DVD is part 18 of a special 18-DVD series by Great Britain Online recording the coastline of the entire British Isles at the start of the 21st century.
The coastline of the delightful Channel Islands provides some of the best views in the British Isles.
The islands are 100 miles south of the English coastline and they are within sight of France. From William the Conqueror’s time to World War II the islands have had to defend themselves and the many Martello Towers remain as photogenic reminders of the strategic importance of these southerly isles.
Our journey starts in St Aubin’s Bay on Jersey, the largest island. After visiting the island capital of St Helier we continue anticlockwise around the entire coastline taking in many notable coves and villages.
Amongst the places seen are: Elizabeth Castle, La Rocque Point, Mount Orgueil Castle, the amazing Ouen’s Bay and Corbiere Lighthouse.
After a short flight to Guernsey we journey around its delightful coastline taking in many stunning views including: St Peter’s Port, Fort Doyle, L’Ancress Bay, Fort Hommet, Lihou Island, Roquaine Bay, and Petit Bot Bay.
Footage from the air of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Sark is included together with many beautiful wildlife shots taken above, on and under the sea and land.
